8.7M views on a single CapCut video. And it wasn't a tutorial (May 2025)

The Photo & Video category is dominating TikTok right now. But the hooks pulling views aren't about features. They're about identity and transformation.

Here's what's actually working:

1. CapCut (8.7M views): "144p to 4k trend" A template-driven trend where creators show glow-ups through video quality (The app is invisible, the trend does all the work)

2. Meitu (292K views): "no need to buy an expensive camera anymore 🤭" Positioning a free app as a replacement for expensive hardware

3. Stardust (285K views): "thanks for the reminder stardust …" A period tracker getting organic love

4. Dashi (181K views): "Eat clean..." Two words. That's the hook. Sometimes the shortest copy wins because it matches the aesthetic the audience already wants.

5. FaceApp (119K views): "faceapp needs to sponsor me at this point..." The creator is begging for a deal. Which means the product already won. Unpaid advocacy disguised as a joke.

The pattern across all of these. Creators aren't selling the app. They're showing what their life looks like with it: CapCut is a glow-up, Meitu is saving money, Stardust is self-care and Dashi is a lifestyle
